Preschool

My son just started preschool last week... it's hard to believe he's going to be 4 in November!  So far he really seems to like his classroom and teachers.  It's the same building as his daycare, so at least it wasn't a huge change for him and some of his friends from his daycare are in the same class.  We went shopping to pick out a lunch box, and he chose Spiderman.  He has not seen the cartoons on TV or any of the movies, so he probably learned about Spiderman from another child in his class.  He really likes his lunch box and matching thermos. lol

I uploaded a few new items to my Oscraps store this weekend -- Party Time papers, elements, and mini kit.  I'm running a special birthday sale on them this week.  The individual items are 50% off or you can pick up the whole set for only $3.00! That's 60% off the regular price. What a deal!

I really like how the set turned out and I plan to use the mini album for a grandparent gift.

New Mini Kit Collection!

Yay! I finished my third set of mini kits for the "You've Got Personality" collection!  I took a break for a couple of months with this collection... I kind of lost my mojo for awhile.  But I started thinking about it again and also received a couple of emails from customers asking if I was planning to continue, so I decided that it was time to start back up.   So here it is... tada! I really liked how each kit turned out.

You can find it at my Oscraps store!

Friendship Bread

A neighbor gave me a starter bag and directions for making friendship bread a few weeks ago.  I thought the whole process was a little strange, especially since you don't refrigerate the batter even after you add milk to it.  But it turned out fine and both my husband and dad really liked it, so I'm going to continue making it.  And my mom too.   We've been making it with half oil/half applesauce, but I think next time we're going to try all oil.  The neighbor gave us a couple of small loaves of the bread that she made last week, and I think her bread tasted better than ours.  Not sure what the difference was, but the oil/applesauce mix is the only variable that changes (other than the vanilla, lemon, or chocolate pudding).  I'm starting to run out of people to give a starter bag to... any takers?  lol

Bad Blogger Strikes Again!

Whoops! I haven't posted anything for a while. What a bad blogger.  I came down with a bad summer cold last weekend, and then I was trying to get a couple of new products done, so I put my blog on the back burner.  But now I'm back!!  hehe.

Not much is going on here.  Summer weather has finally arrived (although it has been a little cooler the last couple of days).  Hot and muggy. ugh.  Not my favorite season.  We set up our inflatable pool, so at least we can cool off a little when it's hot outside.  Of course, I prefer to just stay indoors with the air conditioning, but our son loves going outside to play, so I have to force myself to go out too. lol.  Luckily, my DH likes being outdoors when it's hot so sometimes I get to stay in.

Here's a sneak peek of my new kit!  It should be in the stores by mid-week.

Potlucks

Potlucks stress me out a little.  I always worry about what to bring and whether or not anyone will eat it.  For today's party, I'm making sausage stromboli, which of course, I've never made before. lol.  My dad made both a ham and cheese and a sausage stromboli last Thanksgiving for an appetizer and they tasted awesome.  Everyone loved them and asked for the recipes.  So I thought that I would try to make one for this party, but the recipe that he used called for making the dough from scratch.  Umm, I don't think so.  I can't remember if he made the dough or used refrigerated dough, but I looked online for an easier recipe.    I found one that sounded good, so here I am, attempting my first stromboli.  I guess if it doesn't taste good, we can stop at the grocery store and pick up something before going to the party.

My New Blog!

Welcome to my new blog!! I have been a very bad blogger and wanted to start over with a fresh, new look.   I still feel a little strange writing about my life online but I guess the more I post, the easier it will get.

We have a really busy weekend coming up! Tonight was my son's school carnival, and he had a blast!  He played several games, jumped in the the big bouncer, and ran around with his friends.  Wow, 3 year olds really have a lot of energy together!   Tomorrow, one of my co-workers is hosting a party at his house which is located near the Mississippi River.  I think he has a house boat too.   On Sunday, we are planning to have a BBQ with my in-laws.  The weather is going to be gorgeous this weekend, so we're trying to make the most of it.  In a couple of weeks, it's going to get hot and muggy, and then I will be spending a lot of time indoors.  My DH keeps pushing for a pool (he does this every summer), but I'm holding off because of the cost.  We have an inflatable pool (10 foot diameter and about 3 feet high) which worked really well last summer. It's big enough for my son to play in and for the adults to cool down.

I'm excited to start working on a couple of new kits.  I wish I had more time to design during the week, but I usually don't get on the computer until after 9 PM at night.  I just uploaded a new kit at Oscraps this week for the Friends and Family section.  The kit is Treasured Moments and all proceeds from this kit will go towards helping Carla Gibson's family.  As most of you know, Carla Gibson, an amazingly talented and generous woman recently passed away after suffering a brain aneurysm.  Oscraps created a special category in the store where we are thrilled to share the talents of so many incredibly generous designers and stores who have donated their items to help raise money for Carla's family. Sadly, even though Carla is gone, the medical bills are not and her family still needs our support.  Thanks!
